My day was made this morning! I got really excited about the star-shaped biscuits I was making for breakfast, and one of the campers saw them and exclaimed, “they’re star shaped!” In fact, they all reacted appropriately excitedly. I was pleased.
So. Cute.
Then for snack, Corinne made hot chocolate, which we put out with marshmallows and graham crackers. One of the campers said “it’s like s’mores that you drink!”
To continue the adorableness, for lunch we had alphabet soup. I’m not going to give you a recipe, because the soup was kind of icky. It’s loosely based on the alphabet soup recipe in the Enchanted Broccoli Forrest cookbook. First we boiled some potatoes. Then we added in onions, zucchini, carrots, and celery. Who knows how many. Then we put in 7 boxes of alphabet noodles about 10 minutes before serving it. I also added in 1 teaspoon each of salt, marjoram, thyme, and basil, a tablespoon of garlic, some pepper, and 6 bouillon cubes. It ended up soaking up like all of the water, so it was a really really thick soup. I watered it down a little with some leftover tomato soup.
“ALL AROUND THE LARDER.” What’s the point of alphabet soup if you don’t spell things?
